Terms of use

Version dated 8 July 2026

These terms govern the use of opusheritage.com and of the visitor account. By creating an account, you accept them. The site is published by OPUS France (see the legal notice). This translation is provided for convenience; the French version prevails.

1. The service

OPUS Heritage presents the monuments of partner cities: historical pages, virtual tours, discovery trails, a visit passport, reviews and newsletters. The service is free for visitors. Content is provided by partner local authorities and owners; despite the care taken in preparing it, it may contain inaccuracies and has no contractual value. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the site.

2. Your account

You can create an account during a virtual tour or a trail. You are asked for an email address, a first name, an age bracket and a home département (or a residence abroad). Sign-in is passwordless, based on recognition of your email address. You must be at least 15 years old to create an account on your own; below that age, the consent of a holder of parental authority is required. You undertake to provide accurate information; the account is personal.

3. Your reviews and contributions

By posting a review, you grant OPUS France and the relevant city or owner a free, non-exclusive licence to display it on the platform. Unlawful, defamatory, abusive, promotional or off-topic content, or content containing third-party personal data, is prohibited. Moderation happens after publication: a review that breaches these rules may be removed without notice. To report content: contact@opusheritage.com. You may request the deletion of your reviews at any time; if you delete your account, your reviews are anonymised (the text remains published, the link to you is erased).

4. Passport and stamps

Passport stamps are earned by scanning the QR code displayed in front of each site. It is a playful proof of visit, for personal use: it has no monetary or contractual value. Sharing codes or circumventing the mechanism may lead to the removal of the related progress.

5. Newsletters

You only receive communications (news, events, trails) with your explicit consent, given separately for each city or monument. You can unsubscribe at any time, via the link in each message or from your account.

6. Prohibited uses

It is prohibited to disrupt the operation of the site (overloading, bulk data extraction, circumventing technical measures), to impersonate a third party, to collect other users’ data or to use the service for unlawful purposes.

7. Intellectual property

The platform (design, code, original texts) is the property of OPUS France. Editorial content and photographs of the monuments belong to the local authorities, the owners or their rights holders. Your right of use is limited to personal browsing; any reuse requires written permission (contact@opusheritage.com).

8. Donations

Donation buttons link to third-party platforms (for example HelloAsso or the Fondation du patrimoine) chosen by the city or the owner of the monument. OPUS France collects no donations and is not a party to the transaction: payment terms, security and tax receipts are the responsibility of the donation platform and the beneficiary organisation.

9. Your data

The processing of your personal data is described in our privacy policy and on our cookies & trackers page. You can export your data from your account.

10. Closing your account

Online deletion from your account is coming soon. In the meantime, write to us at contact@opusheritage.com: your account is deleted within 30 days, your reviews are anonymised and your data erased in accordance with our privacy policy.

11. Liability

The service is provided “as is”. OPUS France is not liable for content provided by partners, for third-party sites accessible via links (in particular donation platforms), or for temporary interruptions of the service. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force, dated, is the one published on this page; the version you accepted is recorded with your account. In the event of a substantial change, we will inform you at your next sign-in or by email.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If a problem arises, contact us first at contact@opusheritage.com: we will look for an amicable solution. Failing that, the competent courts are determined by the applicable legal rules. The French version of these terms prevails over this translation.
